player NAME: Crystal AGE: 28 CONTACT: hope31516 | hopeguidesme@mac.com EXPERIENCE: You have this. character NAME: William Christopher Stafford III AGE AND BIRTHDAY: 16; March 21, 1994 LOCATION: New York City (Northeast). HOMETOWN: New York City. OCCUPATION: High School Student. MARTIAL STATUS & SEXUALITY: Dating Rebecca Sawyer. Straight. CLASS: Upper Class. HISTORY: William was born to two loving but somewhat absentee parents. His mother, a successful politician, was often away working or campaigning for days or weeks at a time while his father, a gynecologist, worked long, unpredictable hours. You couldn’t say that William did not have their love or their devotion, but the hard truth is that two working professionals could only be around so much and a good deal of Christopher’s raising was left to the hired help, mainly his nanny and the housekeeper. Even with his parents out or away a lot, though, William had a relatively happy childhood. He has a younger brother, whom he adores and his parents have always been sure to show their affections for them when they are around. To say the Staffords have a happy marriage would be overstating things a bit. They put on a good show of it, though, being careful never to bicker in public. William II’s affairs are an unspoken given around the household. They are all aware that it’s going on, but nobody brings it up. Talking about it would mean dealing with the root cause of his philandering and who has time for trying to strengthen a marriage that has dissolved into more of a business arrangement when there are babies to deliver and elections to win? For his part, William distracted himself with the variety of activities little boys become involved with. When he was younger, it was exploring and various sports (most notably lacrosse) and as he grew older, he added his more rigorous academic pursuits, studying for the SATs that he will take next year and, of course, chasing after girls (he had a massive crush on Chelsea Clinton at one point, not that he will admit to that out loud now). He has known her, at least peripherally, for most of his life, but it wasn’t until early in their sophomore year that William truly began to notice Rebecca Sawyer. Awkward in her younger years, Rebecca seemed to have blossomed into a beautiful girl overnight (or perhaps it was merely over the summer months that divided their ninth and tenth grade years) and William was easily smitten. Rebecca was not some swoony, silly schoolgirl to be easily wooed, however. The kinds of things that worked on other girls did not impress her so easily and it took Christopher some time to convince her to go out with him. Eventually, though, she did relent and in a few short weeks they will reach their six month anniversary. Romance aside, William is nearing the end of the 10th grade and is preparing to enjoy his summer. He has a list of books he wants to read - or re-read - over the summer and plans to spend a little more quality time with his brother and girlfriend than the strict demands of his education allow for during the year. PERSONALITY: William is a relatively easygoing young man, not one to argue or raise a fuss about many things, but he is by no means a pushover. He merely believes in picking his battles and he has rarely found anything worth getting extremely worked up over. A part of this is, perhaps, because he seems to have a gift for reading people and understanding how his words and actions might affect them. It is a useful skill in dealing with people, one he could cultivate to manipulate just about anyone if his intentions were more malicious than they usually are. The truth is that he has merely learned how to take things in stride. Drama is very much discouraged within his family - look at how everyone ignores his father’s affairs as though they aren’t happening or they are unaware of them - and as a result, William just isn’t much of a fighter. That isn’t to say that nothing bothers him - he has just learned to internalize rather than to wear his displeasure on his sleeve. Internalizing his negative emotions doesn’t mean that William is cold and detached, though. On the contrary, he is a warm and friendly young man with many friends and acquaintances and it is obvious that he treasures those he cares about. Rebecca nears the top of that list and she is the one who really sees his more affectionate side. While they’re not exactly that couple making out against your locker when you really need a book, it is rare for him to not slip his hand into hers (as the other arm holds her books as well as his own) when he walks her to class. It is also not remotely uncommon for him to leave notes or flowers in her locker or make other random romantic gestures, even now months after he has won her affections. His little brother is the other person he is closest to. William is not one of those over the top protective older brothers, but he does feel like it’s his job to watch out for his little brother and he makes it a point to let him know he cares about him (yes, even when he is being annoying in that way little brothers often are). Anyone who threatens the boy’s safety will also quickly find out just how much William does love him. William loves to read, especially the classics. He will pick up any book that’s handed to him, but the classics appeal to him much more than anything that’s been written in this day and age. Even when he doesn’t have schoolwork, he’s often found with a book in his hand, reading for the pure fun of it. APPEARANCE William has a very boy next door look with medium brown hair and blue eyes and a naturally trim, fit build. It’s fair to say that he is an extremely handsome young man whether it is something that comes naturally or it is because he does have some care for his appearance. He dresses the part of the proper rich boy, for the most part, but William manages to avoid looking stuffy by doing things like rolling up his sleeves and untucking his shirts. He pulls off looking casual and preppy at the same time and somehow manages to simultaneously look like he’s stepped out of the pages of a teen fashion magazine. Is it really surprising that so many of the girls at his school have crushes on him? PB: Chace Crawford. BLURB: The well-read pretty boy with a heart of gold. |
